The Indian independence movement

Director: Alice Yang

Topic: The Indian Independence Movement (1943)

The year is 1943. Within the turbulence of WWII, this committee raises the curtains on the "forgotten theater" of the war. The committee centers on the Singapore-based movement for Indian independence during World War II, led by nationalist Subhas Chandra Bose. Members of this committee will act as the Provincial Government of Azad Hind, which has convenes with a singular goal in mind: achieving an independent India and to rid India of British influence. This committee although has come together to work in the interest of Indian citizens, both short term and long term policies are highly debated. Firstly, how India is to be freed from British rule, as well as what form of government should be established instead. Delegates will also need to consider the problem of inner religious tensions as well as a new economic model independent of Britain. The committee will be a chance to explore a critical yet underrepresented part of history, challenging delegates to find allies, gather resources, and cooperate in progressing towards a common goal of Hind India — Free India.
