A Letter from the Secretary-General
Dear Delegates and Faculty Advisors,
On behalf of our Secretariat, it is with great pleasure that I invite you to the inaugural in-person edition of Harvard Model United Nations (HMUN) Dubai. We are thrilled to welcome you to Le Meridien Hotel Dubai for our conference, which will take place from Friday, January 10th to Monday, January 13th, 2025.
HMUN Dubai commits itself to upholding the highest standards of debate and delegate experience, paralleling the substantive excellence of its parent Boston conference— the oldest, largest, and most prestigious Model UN conference of its kind. Over the past three years, HMUN Dubai has delivered meaningful experiences to over 1300 students in a virtual setting, and I am thrilled to bring the conference to life for the first time in-person this coming January.
Through our General Assemblies, Economic and Social Councils, and Crisis Committees, HMUN Dubai strives to provide delegates from across the globe with the perfect blend of comprehensive learning and engaging discussions about the world’s most pressing issues. Over the conference, delegates learn to negotiate with others of differing opinions and collaborate with like-minded representatives. Together, they create comprehensive policy frameworks and innovative programs on a wide array of topics. From our substantive selection, delegates will have the opportunity to find a committee that fits their interests and matches their preferred style of debate.
Yet, the HMUN Dubai experience extends beyond the committee room to further embody the spirit of innovation and collegiality. Throughout the conference, delegates have the opportunity to engage with a diverse community in the world’s melting pot of internationalism— Dubai. Delegates and faculty advisors will participate in Leadership Forum sessions consisting of exceptional speakers and global organizations. Staffed by undergraduates from Harvard College, HMUN Dubai remains committed to ensuring an enriching experience for delegates to forge friendships and memories that will last far beyond our four days together.
